Paramount Lundu unleashes terror in Chikwawa: Send thugs to assault ECG church leaders

    Scores of Enlightened Christian Gathering (ECG) Church followers in the lower Shire district of Chikwawa are reported to live in hiding following the attack of their home cell leader, Pastor Charles Makhaza by unknown thugs in wee hours of Sunday morning.

    This is happening barely few days after Paramount Chief Lundu of Chikwawa during a DPP political rally at Nchalo Trading centre in the district, ordered for demolition of the church claiming that the founder of the church Prophet Shepherd Bushiri promotes Satanism and again has a political ambition.

    Chikwawa police confirmed receiving complaints from pastor Makhaza that unknown thugs attacked him on Sunday night and that they are on the ground investigating the matter.

    Speaking in an interview pastor Makhaza said the thugs invaded his house while he was fast asleep with his family members.

    The man of God said upon arrival at the house, the unknown thugs broke the windows while attempting to enter through them.

    Pastor Makhaza revealed that with the help of the barking dogs,his life and together of his family members could have been in danger.

    The church leader said he believes that the barbaric action has been promoted by one of the traditional leaders in Chikwawa.

    While confirming to have received a complaint from Pastor Charles Makhaza of being attacked by unknown people, police in Chikwawa said they are on the ground to investigate the attack.

    Recently, Paramount Chief Lundu of Chikwawa during a DPP political rally held in Nchalo,ordered for the demolition of the ECG church in his area claiming that the founder of it,Prophet Shepherd Bushiri, promotes satanism and again he has a political ambition.

    This sentiments did not go down well with the church which through its Communication Director,Ephraim Nyondo, described Lundu’s allegation as character assassination.

    Meanwhile, Nyondo has called on government to ensure that peoples rights of worship is well safeguarded.
