CHIKWAWA–Pictures dont lie! What was billed to be a mother of all rallies has indeed turned out to be what it was expected; ‘mother of all rallies’ as people of the Lower Shire displayed their love to their ‘Mbuya’ Sidik Mia who has today officially joined the main opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP).
“We love Mbuya and I think you have seen it for yourself,” said a local resident currently attending the rally here at Ngabu.
Both Peoples Party members and independent members of Parliament in the Lower Shire are attending the historic rally.
Soldier Lucious Banda is also in the MCP equation, underlying the fact that citizens of this country have lost faith in the current regime whose incompetence, commentators say, is so telling.
Chancellor College students of the MCP wing travelled all the way from the old capital Lilongwe to show support to theit beloved leader President Professor Lazarus Chakwera.
Mia and Chakwera are yet to speak to the people.
The support MCP has recieved here in the Southern region has never been seen in recent memory.
It must be pointed out that MCP lost the 2014 elections with about 200,000 votes. However, it perfomed badly in the Southern region.
Political commentators say that Mia may be a missing piece to solve the jigg-saw puzzle of MCP forming government in 2019.
We will keep you updated.
