Bronx, New York – Two hundred and forty-one years ago, the 13 original states of the colonies belonging to Great Britain, declared their independence from British rule on July 4, 1776, calling themselves the United States of America.
Today as the United States (currently 50+ states), President Trump welcomed members of the military to the White House for fireworks displays.
Ordinary citizens around the area I live, staged numeroys mini public fireworks displays — not in their backyards as is the norm, but on the streets.
So all along Harding Avenue, about six or seven launch pads were established in the middle of the road. Launching fireworks. The sky, 360 degrees around me was on fire and lit up with crackling noise and colorful designs.
For two hours, I stood and watched, took lots of pictures as men, women and children shouted “Happy Birthday America!”
Since the public transport (bus) was still operating, someone must have called 911; because after one hour, the police came and ran over the launch pads with their squad cars, as the miscreants (those that triggered the fireworks) ran inside for cover.
